From chapel to chapel

Along the way, you’ll come across a number of chapels (where relics of saints or church treasures are kept) and small altars, typical of the countryside, which are dedicated to worship outside the parish and provide a place of meditation for those who wish to do so.

From chapels to calvaries, your ascent to the menhir takes place peacefully, until you reach the Chapelle dite “des Amourettes”, where a bench and picnic table invite you to take a well-deserved break!

A panoramic view on the Ecaillon valley

Let’s go, gang! Time to start walking again! The ascent to the menhir will be gradual…

You’ll pass the charming Fontaine des Lainiers, a reference to the villagers who washed their sheep’s wool here before selling or combing it in the last century.

The Church of Saint-Quentin provides a lovely promontory overlooking the village of Sommaing.

After a few twists and turns through the village streets, here we are: a country lane heralds the start of the ascent!

The panoramic view at the top is well worth the effort! The Ecaillon valley stretches out in front of you, characterized by its great biodiversity, making it a recognized natural area for flora and fauna.

Le gré de Monfort or “the menhir

This boulder dates back to the Neolithic period!

It is part of a series of stones marking the “Roman road” linking Bavay to Amiens. It was classified as a Historic Monument in 1980.

renewed energies The legend of the menhirs

A path to spiritual awakening…

In legend, the menhir is a link between the forces of the earth in which it is planted, the world of the living through its outcropping on the ground, and the elevation to spiritual powers.

Find the summit of your form at the foot of the menhir!

According to an ancient and forgotten science, menhirs are stone antennae that radiate energy.

The ideal place to recharge your batteries!

Like portals, menhirs take us to other dimensions of ourselves. Their proximity brings us into communion with energies that reveal our true nature, and provoke a sense of well-being.

The ideal place for a little mindfulness meditation, while looking out over the panorama!
