Say it with a sculpture Vision Antique

What could be more romantic than a fairytale kiss in an idyllic setting?

The Parc des Prix de Rome will be the natural and cultural setting for an unforgettable declaration…

With his work Vision antique, Alphonse Terroir immerses us in an intimate, tender scene between two young lovers from antiquity. It’s almost too much! The scene seems peaceful, the atmosphere serene. The lovers seem alone in the world…

Alphonse-Camille Terroir’s Vision antique evokes a world long gone. This couple embracing in the shadow of the columns of a ruined temple was sculpted in 1912, but the nudity of the figures and the lovers’ kiss were too “provocative” for the mores of the time. Today, this “Ancient Vision” is sure to enchant your stroll.

Declare your flame in "fête galante" mode

Declaring your love the Watteau way

Ah l’Amour, l’Amour… we haven’t heard the last of it! The quintessential feeling of love has always been a source of inspiration for artists. In all forms, the first emotions are revealed, sometimes at the turn of a country walk or an intimate moment.

Antoine Watteau’s L’Enjôleur is an obvious love motif! This sentiment permeates many of his aptly named “fêtes galantes”. It’s a time of seduction, of festive hearts, and the two figures gesticulate, as if carried away by the euphoria of their feelings.

Watteau: the painter of the sweetness of life…

He painted cheerful people, always graceful and pretty. He painted joyful parties, charming gardens, happy insouciance.

The poetry and beauty of this dreamy atmosphere gave him fame. And his paintings are still a source of dazzlement for us.

Why is that good?

Reason #1

A breath of fresh art that makes you even more in love… Neuroscientists have studied the question: what happens in our brains when we contemplate a work of art? Our brains secrete dopamine, the same hormone present in the state of love!

Reason #2

This park promises an escape between nature and culture. It’s also the ideal place to improvise a romantic picnic in the city.

Reason #3

Dreams, poetry, reflection… so many moments to experience a whole range of emotions.

Art to share!

Take a poetic, aesthetic and emotional stroll…

The Parc des Prix de Rome unveils its talents to give you a change of scenery… it offers you the material to create links and get to know each other better. You don’t need to be an art history expert to visit it! You can discover the park in “small doses” and at your own pace, thanks to a series of informative totem poles.

You can simply follow the works of art with your eyes, soaking up the aesthetic beauty of the sculptures, enjoying the serenity of the surroundings and finally taking the time to think of nothing but yourselves.

Art is meant to be experienced together, to be shared. You’ll enjoy exchanging your views on the subject. It doesn’t matter whether they’re positive or negative, because the most important thing is not so much to like what you’ve seen, but to have felt a genuine emotion when confronted with the works in the park. The word “aesthetic” comes from the Greek “aïsthésis”, meaning “sensation”.
