With the whole family, you’ll have the choice between getting up high and traveling through the mining past, pedaling through the Valenciennes countryside or setting sail on a sailing boat just a stone’s throw from downtown Valenciennes…

Condé-sur-l'Escaut 1. The LegendR experience on foot

Have you ever visited the Chabaud Latour site at Condé-sur-l’Escaut? This exceptional site hides an incredible secret.
We invite you to discover this secret thanks to virtual reality and the LegendR mobile application.
With your smartphone, an essential tool, and the cardboard (available on sale at the Tourist Office), let yourself be carried along in the footsteps of the vanished mine and plunge into a journey into the past.

A sensory experience that takes you into the daily lives of miners during the 1950s, during a one-and-a-half-hour walk that you can take on your own.

The adventure begins near the café rando La Roselière (chemin des Moulineaux).
An ascent of the Ledoux slag heap (signposted) completes the adventure. Make sure you and your children are well equipped for the climb. Once you’ve reached the top, you’ll be amazed!

Experience kit on sale at the Tourist Office.

Sebourg 2. Escapade in authentic countryside by bike

Let’s get away from it all in the south of the Valenciennes countryside!

Selected as one of France’s favorite villages in 2014, the picturesque village of Sebourg, just ten kilometers from Valenciennes, invites you to enjoy a breath of fresh air (and a bit of sport) with your family.

Equipped with your bicycles, you’ll discover a village that’s larger in area than the town of Valenciennes (amazing, isn’t it?), which you can explore on your own or follow the new Boucle de l’Aunelle route.

Let the wind carry you downhill past the recently renovatedSaint-Martin church. If you feel like it, stop for a coffee or a drink at the café rando Bar de l’Aunelle, just around the corner from the church. Then drive on to the Moulin, still in operation. You’ll find Morage flour in and around the bakeries (to make delicious homemade breads and pastries for your children).

You’ll need to climb a few slopes to reach the Hauts de Sebourg, but the panorama and the typical censes (farms) are well worth the detour! If you fancy a gourmet lunch break, stop off at the Unico Côté Jardin restaurant. After effort, comfort, as they say! Take advantage of their shady garden on sunny summer days.

Next, head for the peaceful hamlet of Sebourquiau, surrounded by the Aunelle river. Not far from the typical censes and magnificently restored barns, a few cobbled roads await you as you cross the bridge over the village’s unmissable waterfall. A not-to-be-missed family photo or selfie spot.

Valenciennes 3. A family getaway on a sailboat

Set course for a family sailboat getaway!

Discover the Valenciennes vineyards in an original way with the Cercle de Voile ‘s sailboat tour, offering a sailing experience for families and groups of friends.

Boarding this comfortable and safe craft (a 5.90m Ludic dinghy), you’ll have 1 hour to discover a magnificent stretch of water in the heart of Valenciennes from a different angle.

What’s more, you’ll enjoy a healthy and fun outdoor activity that lets you relax, get closer to nature and reconnect with it, all while practicing a sporting activity. With your hair in the wind, you’ll also learn to handle the helm like a skipper.

You’ll take part in the management of the boat, making it an enriching experience for young and old alike.

Relaxation, fun, thrills, discovering the natural beauty of the pond and learning about sailing await you!

Privatization possible for groups of 4 or more (6-8 pers max).

Reservations required.

It’s a really great experience for the whole family! It’s not easy at first, because we’re all a bit stressed, but in the end we have a good laugh and get a feel for it. I thought I was just going to let myself be guided, but in the end we’re all involved in the maneuver, and it’s great fun! It’s a great way to challenge the kids and really live the experience…
