Dare to discover this essential part of Valenciennes' cultural heritage Cultural heritage. This 7-hectare cemetery, inaugurated in 1792, is one of the most fascinating north of Paris. One aspect in particular makes the place astonishing: 18 Grands Prix de Rome are laid to rest here, and are considered "stars". Among them is the famous Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, sculptor of of "La Danse" on the façade of the Opéra Garnier in Paris.
