Description
Archaeologists from the Institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (Inrap) are currently conducting an excavation in Onnaing. The site will be exceptionally open to the public on Saturday June 13, 2026, as part of the European Archaeology Days (JEA). The archaeologists have unearthed numerous remains testifying to the presence of a Gallic farm and its development up to Roman times.
Tours, with commentary by archaeologists, will be offered every 30 minutes. At the same time, workshops will enable visitors to learn more about preventive archaeology and the work of archaeologists. To ensure everyone's safety, access to the tours will be restricted to registered visitors only.
We recommend that you bring closed-toe shoes suitable for an excavation site (sneakers, walking shoes).
