A "So romantic" placeA little history...
The Fresnes-sur-Escaut park is one of the most remarkable public spaces in the Valenciennes region.
Its 6.5 hectares open to the city, with its pond, the old arm of the Escaut, its century-old trees, its Temple de l’Amour and its château, make it a unique environment of exceptional heritage and environmental value.
The château, built in the 18th century, belonged to the Desandrouin family. Jean-Marie Stanislas Desandrouin (1738-1821), Viscount and later Marquis, lived here until his death. He had the Temple de l’Amour built in 1762 as a tribute to his first wife, Caroline Joséphine de Walkiers.
In 1913, the château was acquired by the Compagnie des Mines de Thivencelles.
On August 9, 1958, it became the property of the town of Fresnes-sur-Escaut.
On June 30, 2012, the château was classified(Bassin Minier) n°6 on the Unesco World Heritage list .
That’s why this garden has also become an idyllic mining landscape for your tender declaration…
