Henriette The cross-border pedestrian node network

Hainaut-cambrésis, Espace Natureet Réseauxd’ItinéranceEntente pour un Tourisme Transfrontalier Eco-responsable, otherwise known as HENRIETTE, is a European project that brings together French and Belgian partners with a common goal: to strengthen the hiking offer.

Coordinated by the Département du Nord and the Province of Hainaut, the project’s concrete aim is to develop tourism offerings, and to enhance and link natural and heritage areas by setting up a Réseau Points-Nœuds (RPN).

What is a pedestrian point-node network?

A Node Point Network is a network of hiking trails identified by numbered markers.

At each crossroads, a numbered beacon indicates the various possible itineraries. In this way, the network can be used to create a multitude of routes, rather than always following the same loop.

Project dates

The project officially began on July 1, 2024 and will be completed in the summer of 2028.

What is the role of the Valenciennes Métropole Convention and Visitors Bureau?

For this project, the Valenciennes Métropole Tourist and Convention Bureau is actively supported by Valenciennes Métropole in the following areas of the region:

Les Plaines Scarpe-Escaut, around the Chabaud-Latour area in Condé-sur-l’Escaut. The Tourist Office has an advisory role on the itineraries, plays a major role in promoting the tourist points along the route, and will coordinate the study of a sensory route on the theme of nature and mining within the Chabaud-Latour sector in Condé-sur-l’Escaut in partnership with Valenciennes Métropole.

→ Bavaisis-Hauts-Pays, around the Sebourg, Rombies and Marchipont sectors. The Tourist Office will also be involved in studying the route in partnership with the Parc naturel régional de l’Avesnois, promoting tourism among local partners and developing experiential loops.

For both sectors, the Valenciennes Métropole Tourist Office will be actively involved in the project’s institutional communication.
