Scarpe-Escaut Regional Nature Park

Created in 1968, the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Nature Park is France’s oldest regional nature park. Located in the Nord-Pas de Calais region, between Lille, Douai and Valenciennes, it is also the most densely populated.

Today, the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Nature Park comprises 57 classified communes with a wide variety of landscapes and heritage.

Since 1989, together with the Parc naturel des Plaines de l’Escaut in Belgium, the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Nature Park has created a cross-border dynamic under the name of the Parc naturel Transfrontalier du Hainaut, resulting in Franco-Belgian cooperation and coordination, with joint actions and similar objectives.
