The spirit of the place!
Le Grand Duc, for sure, is a guest house with soul. It is also a house that proudly claims its industrial origin. The Grand Duke had his hour of glory in the time of the captains of the mining epic of the 20th century. The house is reborn today after a complete renovation.
It offers a surprising decor, combining respect for heritage with the high standards of equipment expected by the traveler of our time. It was once the house built for the Director of the Central Workshops of the Compagnie des mines d'Anzin.
Look straight ahead! Impossible not to see the large porch of this former factory, treated in a monumental way and dated 1842. The director thus had a privileged position to observe the entrances and exits of the 4000 workers and miners assigned to the various workshops of the place, also known as the name of "Chantier des Mines".
