Parc de la Rhônelle - VALENCIENNES

Plants in Valenciennes
  • The Rhônelle Park in Valenciennes

Designed by the architect Henri Martinet, this "English style" park was completed in 1904. He made ample use of the river and changes in level to carve out a basin, create winding paths, and installed fake ruins and rocks. This park today provides the setting for numerous works of art, and much like the cemetery of Saint-Roch it could be described as a genuine open-air museum.
