  • The Chabaud Latour site in Condé-sur-l’Escaut

It is difficult to feel anything but the utmost admiration for this superb renovation of what was a former disused mining site, a project which scooped the "Arbre d’argent public" prize, an award which is issued to the finest French landscaped areas.
Enjoy all the charms of this natural site, which is among the richest and most diverse in the département (county), and which has already attracted a multitude of birds who stop off here during their migration or who live here all year round. As a rather unusual location on the wet plains of the north, don't miss the climb to the top of its spoil heap, an impressive lookout point from where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Condé area and which boasts fauna and flora which have come here from far and wide, including: Sorrel from the Alps, groundsel from South Africa, Chenopodium from Australia and thermophilic plants.
