  • This farm-like building was the country residence of Jacques Desandrouin, the first discoverer of coal. Built between 1731 and 1760, and completed in the 19th century, the house is located in the middle of the first prospected fields and is surrounded by multiple wells. Occupied throughout the 18th century by the Desandrouin, the house became, in the early 19th century, the residence of Jacques Renard, director of the Anzin Mining Company, which established the offices of the Company....
