The chapel of Sainte-Thérèse in Vieux-Condé
The second parish church of Vieux-Condé, known as the chapel of Sainte-Thérèse, is situated in the district of La Solitude, a remarkable mining district someway removed from the town centre. Its construction, which was financed by the Archbishop of Cambrai in 1964-1965, was managed by Guillaume Gillet. The second parish church of Vieux-Condé, known as the chapel of Sainte-Thérèse, is situated in the district of La Solitude, a remarkable mining district someway removed from the town centre. Its construction, which was financed by the Archbishop of Cambrai in 1964-1965, was managed by Guillaume Gillet. This architect of the post war economic boom years was aided by the engineer Robert Lourdin. The building features a square layout with one of the corners being reserved for the choir. The church tower overlooks the building and is located in its centre. Above the white-painted reinforced bare concrete walls, the upper part features rounded wooden vertical strips and coloured window panes.
